Motorcycle Theft Prevention

The MCIA has been working closely with the Met Police, The Mayor’s Office, Transport for London and other authorities, to help tackle Motorcycle and Scooter theft in the capital and elsewhere.

In addition to the newly announced MCIA Secured Scheme, representatives from the MCIA, member companies and the Metropolitan and City of London Police, engage in an annual “Day of Action”, where central London’s commuting riders are questioned about their security routine and urged to ‘Lock, Chain and Cover’ their scooters, mopeds and motorcycles to make them less visible to thieves. As part of this initiative, riders are given a bike cover, which is an effective part of a multi-layered security approach.
